 Asgaardian Senshi Information
« Thread Started on Sept 6, 2008, 4:01pm »

I could find no credible reference to where the Asgaard system would be, but I've placed it on the opposite side of the galaxy from Sol, some 2/3 of the way from the galaxy's bulbous middle.

In the past, the entire system had been barren and lifeless. None of its planets had blue skies, liquid water, or breathable atmospheres. None of them held plant or animal life of any sort, except the few whose Senshi became active for some reason. Only in the past millennium-- a fraction of a second in geological terms-- has the system suddenly come to life. The reason behind this apparent miracle is unknown, though it co-incides with the Legendary Strongest Senshi having regained her soul and Chaos, the source of all war and strife throughout the galaxy, having been dispersed.

Note that all these celestial objects have been unnamed up until quite recently. Most things would've been referred to generically until then (i.e. "the sun", "the world"), or been given informal nicknames. If your chara has been around a while, she may have a hard time adjusting to the names of things, and that's fine.

The major celestial objects of the system are as follows:

  • Baldr - the binary star around which the system orbits
  • Tyr - first planet, desert climate, no natural satellites
  • Idun - second planet, steamy tropical climate : moon - Bragi
  • Thor - third planet, temperate but rainy/stormy climate : moon - Sif
  • Freya - fourth planet, temperate climate, no natural satellites
  • Freyr - fifth planet, temperate climate : moon - Gerdr
  • Odin - sixth planet, temperate to chilly climate : moons - Sleipnir, Geri and Freki
  • Frigg - seventh planet, chilly climate : moon - Eir
  • Asteroid Belt - an area of rocky objects of varying shapes and sizes, most of which are too small to have their own Senshi : most prominent asteroids - Urdr, Verdandi, and Skuld
  • Loki - eighth planet, gas giant with a volatile atmosphere : principle moons - Fenrir, Jormungandr, Narfi and Vali
  • Aegir - ninth planet, gas giant with a turbulent atmosphere : principle moons - Ran, Drofn, Blodughadda, Bylgja, Dufa, Hefring, Himingaeva, Hronn, Kolga, and Unnr
  • Heimdall - tenth planet, gas giant with a kaleidoscopic atmosphere : principle moons - Gialp, Greip, Eistla, Eyrgiafa, Ulfrun, Angeyja, Imd, Atla, and Iarnsaxa
  • Skaadi - eleventh planet, dark and frigid atmosphere : moons - Njord and Ullr
  • Hel - twelfth planet, frigid and inhospitable atmosphere, no natural satellites

Asgaardian Senshi are named for and draw traits from Norse mythology. If you don't know much about your chosen Senshi's namesake, Google him or her to get some ideas. I am equally open to any of these being male or female, so long as proper rules are followed.

All Asgaardians are powerful and physically tough, but I have to put a ceiling on Senshi strength somewhere. None can be stronger than Freya, and preferably only the strongest can give her a run for the money. That's not arrogance on my part, but consideration for charas from other systems-- it's no fun when everyone is immensely more powerful than you!

There is no set design for fuku, but the common theme for all Asgaardian Senshi is armour. It can be anything from a couple of pieces to the whole fuku, any style or material people usually make it out of, so long as it's there in some form. Of course all Sailor Senshi still have to have Sailor collars, no matter what the rest of the fuku looks like-- it's canonical.

Planetary Senshi

Tyr Namesake: Norse god of single-handed combat, originally the leader of the gods before Odin
Suggested traits: Intense bravery, honesty, and stoicism. Player may take on his handicap (Tyr's right hand was bitten off while trying to bind the monster Fenrir) if desired, but it's not required. May be one of the Senshi who's been alive on a barren world, but if so, I think Tyr would be stoic rather than bitter about it.

Idun Namesake: Norse goddess of springtime and youth
Suggested traits: Youthful and beautiful. A cool power may be to manipulate the age of objects and/or (temporarily) people. I definitely think Idun is one of those Senshi who's just beginning life.

Thor Namesake: Norse god of thunder
Suggested traits: Masculine (even if the Senshi is female), strong, and prideful. Lightning powers are recommended, of course, and if a weapon is used it should be a hammer.

Freya Namesake: Norse goddess of love, beauty, war, death, agriculture, and fertility

Freyr Namesake: Norse god of agriculture and male virility
Suggested traits: Concerned with romance and physical pleasures, moody if doesn't get own way. If a weapon is used, it should be a sword. Since their mythological namesakes are siblings, Freyr may bear some physical resemblance to Freya, but Galaxia in any form may not be used for Freyr's graphics (not even altered pics). The two charas may be related in some way if both muns agree.

Odin Namesake: Leader of the Norse gods, god of wisdom, magic, war, death, and the hunt
Suggested traits: Wisdom, leadership skills, unconcerned with gender roles (Odin's type of magic was considered "women's work"). Morphing into animal forms would be a good power, or maybe to call on dead warriors for help in battle. Player may take on his handicap (Odin traded an eye for knowledge) if desired, but it's optional. If a weapon is used, it should be a spear. Odin and Frigg may act as lovers (gay or straight), if both muns agree.

Frigg Namesake: Norse goddess of marriage and motherhood (Some say Frigg was a form of Freya, but here they're considered separate deities.)
Suggested traits: Caring, maternal, possibly given to fits of vanity or jealousy. I'm curious to see what sort of powers can be invented on the marriage/motherhood angle ^^ . May also have the gift of prophecy, if played carefully. Frigg and Odin may act as lovers (gay or straight), if both muns agree.

Loki Namesake: Norse god of fire, mischief, and trickery
Suggested traits: lying, thieving, antagonistic, cruel, and manipulative. Whether this chara (or the namesake god) is truly evil or just plays around too much is up to interpretation. Perhaps Loki is one of those who was an active Senshi on a barren world and was driven to madness or evil by the experience? Powers may include fire-based powers, ability to change form and gender, magic of some sort, or the ability to create monsters.

Aegir Namesake: Norse god of the sea
Suggested traits: Given to drunkenness and bouts of great wrath. Powers should reflect the might of the turbulent ocean.

Heimdall Namesake: Guardian of the gods and the bridge between the realms of humans and gods
Suggested traits: Tirelessness and alertness, superhuman hearing, may have or wear horns like a ram's.

Skaadi Namesake: Norse goddess of winter, sometimes identified as a huntress
Suggested traits: May be cold, a bit shallow, and hard to please. If we're going with the huntress idea, a bow would be a good weapon.

Hel Namesake: Ruler of the Norse underworld
Suggested traits: Player may have fun with how mythological Hel was described as hideous, half-alive and half-dead-- get creative in the profile description! Whether the chara's inner self matches the appearance is left to the player. Creative use of death-related powers is encouraged.
As a wink and nod to the fact mythological Baldr happens to be dead, the Senshi of Baldr here lives on planet Hel. How well the charas get along will be left up to their muns.

The following charas are playable, but less important than the above, so I won't go into the same detail for them.

Satellite Senshi

Bragi Namesake: Norse god of poetry

Sif Namesake: May be a goddess of beauty or fertility, known mostly for her golden hair, and the time Loki stole it (and had to replace it with living gold-- Mistress Nine-ish powers FTW?)

Gerdr Namesake: Giantess Freyr fell in love with and pouted around over until she agreed to marry

Sleipnir Namesake: Frightening, man-eating eight-legged horse owned by Odin

Eir Namesake: Norse goddess of healing

Fenrir Namesake: Fierce monster wolf who not only bit off Tyr's hand, but also ate Odin at Ragnarok. O_o

Ran Namesake: Norse goddess of storms

Njord Namesake: Norse god of fishing and seafaring

Asteroid Senshi

Urdr Namesake: One of the three who decides the fate of man, associated with the past

Verdandi Namesake: One of the three who decides the fate of man, associated with the present

Skuld Namesake: One of the three who decides the fate of man, associated with the future

Star Senshi

Baldr Namesake: Norse god of light, peace, and rebirth
As a wink and nod to the fact mythological Baldr is dead, our Baldr lives on Planet Hel. Whether those charas get on well or not will be up to their muns.

Unlisted deities and mythological figures may be playable in some form, so long as the idea is approved by me first.
